Swedish-Khurdish experimental pop artists Zhala signed to Robyn's Konichiwa Records in 2014 and has been the sole artist on the label other than Robyn ever since. Returning today with the kind of lyric video that Björk would be proud of, Zhala's newest single 'Holes' was produced by Olof Dreijer, best known one of half of the seminal Scandinavian duo The Knife. Set over an icy backdrop of glacial synthesizers, left-field sound effects and clattering beats, Zhala's unique vocals are layered and all encompassing, enveloping their listeners in a surreal, hypnotic blanket of sound that's equally immersive and transportive. Five years on from the release of her self-titled debut album, we'll be keeping a close eye on Zhala's output from here on out. -Holly Mullineaux
